Assessment and Accountability:
The distinction between assessment systems and accountability systems—assessment refers to the process of collecting information, and accountability refers to the process of making decisions and applying consequences based on the information collected. Also, an accountability system cannot be valid without valid assessment data.

STS offers a sample School Improvement Review Booklet used in conjunction with the
Illinois Learning Standards Battery (ILSB) to address both accountability and assessment. (This booklet may be used and modified for use with other assessments.)
